On Saturday, June 14, 2025, ~4,300 people, and over 95 businesses and organizations participated in the 4th Annual Trolley Trail Day!
During the 4th annual Trolley Trail Day, the communities along the Rhode Island Avenue Trolley Trail for a full-day free event designed to engage the community, bring awareness to trail access and celebrate our culturally rich Route 1 Corridor! Events and activities happened all day from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., along the entirety of the Trolley Trail, and beyond this year!Â

Events began at 9:00 a.m. with RunnersHy and College Park parkrun leading fun runs, College Park Bicycles leading it's first of 2 bike rides, and the Hollywood Farmer's Market opening early! Then, at 10:00 a.m. the Discovery District Hub and Hyattsville Hub at Melrose Skate Park opened. Proteus Bicycles led a ride from the Hollywood Farmer's Market to the Gateway Farmer's Market with stops at the Melrose Skate Park Hub and miXt Food Hall. At 11:00 a.m. the rest of the trail opened up from the Berwyn Business District to Lakeland Community, the Old Parish House and Green to Riverdale Park Station, Riverdale Park Town Center to the Hyattsville Spot Park. And at 11:30 a.m., Arrow Bicycles led a Brewery Ride with stops at Proteus Brews, Tacos A la Madre, Denizens Brewing Co., Town Center Market, Franklins, Sangfroid Distilling, Streetcar 82, at Maryland Meadworks.Â
And, that's when things really got started! From live music line ups in Berwyn, at the Old Parish House and in Hyattsville, to line dancing and disc golf demos in Lakeland, a mocktail garden and earring making at the Old Parish House to resources, history, and virtual reality in Riverdale Park, and DJ parties, skateboarding, and delicious samples in Hyattsville. And, to cap it off, we hosted the 2nd Trolley Trail Day Night at the Museum Rock Concert at the College Park Aviation Museum featuring Slade Band, Laundry World + College Park Chorale. With food and drink from StreetCar 82, LaMeera Ice Cream, Napa Grill and Backyard BBQ Bill. The day couldn't have gone better! Scroll through to see all that happened at each hub of activity!
It was a day full of live music, good food, and fun activities at Melrose Skate Park! The sounds of local bands Ammonite, Meerwolf, Lud Roes, and Flowers for the Dead were amazing. Music photographer roXplosion was out and about. Cocineros provided folks with yummy breakfast burritos next to Maryland Meadworks whil Pyramid Atlantic Art Center's hosted Frankenbike Printing. Raffles were held for prizes from Call Your Mother Deli and Love Yoga Studio! And resource tables from the Hyattsville CDC, City of Hyattsville, M-NCPPC's PG Parks Capital Trails Coalition, District 2 County Councilmember Wanika Fisher, East Coast Greenway Alliance and MDOT's State Highway Administration. Plus, the HyFi Groove Society hosted an all-day DJ party featuring a fantastic mix of Old School, Funk, Disco, Hip Hop, and House music at Maryland Meadworks next door! And, the House of MANIF brought skate swag and a skate filmer!!Â
Hyattsville's (other) Hub at the Spot Park provided maximum excitement with a range of activities for all ages! Mathnasium and Art Works Now provided kids' activities, while Defensoras De La Cuenca hosted an informational table featuring their animal ambassador - Alex the Bearded Dragon. Adagio Dance hosted a dance with their performers. Green Owl Design, a full-service interior design firm, raffled off a $350 valued 1-hour In-Home Consultation, and Nest Proper, a curated retail boutique, raffled off a $50 gift card. Q Club Cheers Queers celebrated Pride Month. The Loft Collective introduced their offerings as they open a second location in Hyattsville. And, My Dead Aunt’s Books was out with reading materials for all ages.Â
This year, Riverdale Park is celebrating its centennial plus 5 and Trolley Trail Day this year fell squarely into the town's celebration and commemoration! Riverdale Park Town Center featured an inflatable obstacle course, art activities for kids, and cotton candy. The National Capital Trolley Museum was out to showcase the history of the old Trolley system and people had fun taking a virtual reality experience of it with VR-SC, a local virtual reality org. There was a Tennis Demo with the Junior Tennis Championship Center, resource tables with District 3 County Councilmember Eric Olson and the Purple Line, and there were specials, samples, and discounts from local businesses such as Manifest Bread and Riviera Tapas Bar and much more.Â
Riverdale Park Station was a central place to connect to the trail and grab t-shirts... it was so busy, they ran out of t-shirts! The Village Green hosted a DJ with good beats, arts and crafts for kids, and lawn games. Club Pilates is a new pilates studio that's accessible by trail and hosted a Pilates class. Denizen's Mobile Beer Truck was there and Jersey Mike's provided coupons for a variety of free subs, free chips and drinks, and free kids meals. The Girl Scouts of the Nations Capital showcased their activities and the Prince George's Running Club had a much needed misting fan along with a prize wheel, giveaways and discounts. The Prince Georges County Office of Community Relations and the Prince George's County Department of Public Works and Transportation were out to meet people! It was a great day for all!
The Old Parish House hub was a sweet place to stop along the Trolley Trail! There was a fun line up of local musicians such as the ZooKulele Collective (11:00 a.m.), Amy Schneider & Rumi Matsuyama (12:00 p.m.), Dom Elliott (1:00 p.m.), and then families joined Eric Maring - Mr. M and friends for a Family Sing! (2:00 p.m.) Throughout the day, College Park Arts Exchange lead some awesome activities for all -- a Tai Chi class at 11:00 a.m., bracelet, earring and button making stations in the OPH Parlor, face-painting and a coloring station. Breathing Space Yoga hosted a Yoga Obstacle Course for you and your family to try (12:30 - 2:00 p.m.) inside. Rita's Italian Ice was out by the Kids Zone. College Park Academy, College Park Bicycles, and District 3 County Councilmember Eric Olson were all out talking to folks. For the first time, this year the Old Parish House Green Space was transformed into a Maryland Artisan Makers Mall with vendors associated with Shop Made in Maryland and people were able to grab refreshing drinks in the mocktail garden from Alchemy Mocktails!
The Discovery District merges the research strength of UMD College Park with innovative public and private partners addressing the Grand Challenges of our time. The new Discovery District Partnership, and the 21st District Delegation, were both there to showcase their innovation, connection and more. Plus, the Hotel at UMD, and Cambria Hotel raffled off hotel stays and spa treatments, and OpenBarre Studios raffled off three six week intro classes to lucky winners!
People were able to discover their interests at the Lakeland Community Park! Line dancing started at 11:30 a.m.! Calvert Road Disc Golf Flyers and the UMD Disc Golf Club hosted a Disc Golf Demo at 1:00 p.m. (and everyone grabbed Trolley Trail Day frisbees on the way!) VeoRide had scooters for people to test and the College Park Arts Exchange had a rock painting activity with the UMD's Office of Community Engagement People stopped by resource tables from M-NCPPC's PGParks, Lakeland Community Heritage Project, Lakeland Civic Association, and there was fish fry and slushie station to boot!
Berwyn had so much fun on Trolley Trail Day with activities, sweet treats, and a solid lineup of live music. Skate Instruction was at the Holy Redeemer parking lot teaching people how to roller skate, people got some tea from Smile Herb Shop, and Vital Traditions set up for live acupuncture demos. The Berwyn District Civic Association's commitment to sustainable living will be on full display as they host resources from the University of Maryland Extension's Master Gardeners, the City of College Park's Tree and Landscape Board and the College Park Committee for a Better Environment provided herbs and seeds to boot. On tap with live music: The Overthinkers played at 12:00 p.m., the Odyssey Band at 1:00 p.m., and to wrap the hub, @NoFavorsBand "came at us live at 2:00 p.m. with takes on classic rock, 90s grunge, post-punk, and indie-pop ballads" at 2:00 p.m.
The stars were aligned in Hollywood! Hollywood Shopping Center’s Activity Hub will feature tickets to the Farmers Market, a raffle for 15 $50 gift cards from MOM's Organic Market, art, Giant chess and Jenga games, live music from 10:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. with Reggie "Right Eye" Stout, good food such as Papusas, Thai Food, and SEASONALLY FRESH FRUIT. Plus, Proteus will lead an inaugural "Market to Market" bike ride from the Hollywood Farmer's Market to the Gateway Farmer's Market in Mount Rainier.
For the second year in a row, over 500 people closed out Trolley Trail Day with an epic wrap party at the College Park Aviation Museum! Slade Band opened the concert with an electrifying journey through Blues, Gospel, and Funk. Then, Laundry World was joined by the College Park Chorale for a special 'one-night only' iconic hits. All killer, no filler – now with rockin’ choir parts. Special thanks to the College Park Aviation Museum staff, College Park Arts Exchange, and College Park Chorale members who made this evening a success!Â
